False Imprisonment Leads to Domestic Violence Arrest

Police officers arrested a St. Thomas man Thursday morning after a report of a domestic dispute.

According to the V.I. Police Department, officers arrested 47-year-old Osbert Grant of Liefte Gade and charged him with false imprisonment, domestic violence.

Officers responded to a call at about 10:15 a.m. The victim told officers that Grant, who is her husband, had locked her and their two children in the residence. Upon arrival of the officers, the victim was able to unlock the door to the home.

The victim told officers that Grant had refused to let her and the children out of the home, having been told of her plans to move off-island.

Grant was placed under arrest and charged with false imprisonment, domestic violence. He was held without bail under the Domestic Violence Law and was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
