Wanted Man Presumed to be on St. Croix

J'wa CharleryThe U.S. Marshals Service has enlisted the assistance of Crime Stoppers USVI to apprehend a man wanted for a murder in Virginia who police believe to be on St. Croix.

J’wa Charlery, a 19-year-old black man who goes by the street name of “Balla,” is wanted on a charge of first-degree murder stemming from an incident Nov. 2 in Virginia.

According to a news release from the V.I. Police Department, Charlery allegedly shot a young woman at a hotel in Richmond. He is believed to be on St. Croix.

Charlery is 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of J’wa Charlery can contact the Major Crimes Unit at 1-340-642-8449, the 911 emergency center, or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.

The police reminded residents that it is a crime to harbor a fugitive. Anyone whose information leads to Charlery’s capture will receive a cash reward and will remain anonymous.
