Louise C. Lewis Dies at 78

Louise C. Lewis Louise C. Lewis of Christiansted was called home to the Lord on Jan. 17. She was 78 years old.
She was preceded in death by her children: Nihela, Aimee and Akil, and her brother Ludwig Boyer.
Ms. Lewis was born Sept. 24, 1935, in New York to Hazel Aimee and Peter Ludwig Boyer, and baptized Roman Catholic. Her father was born in Frederiksted and was a WWII veteran; her mother was born in California and was a teacher.
Ms. Lewis graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in paralegal studies. She worked for Hovensa and then for the Government of the Virgin Islands with Consumer Affairs, where she took an early retirement in the 1990s. Ms. Lewis was an active member in the Rotary Club of St. Croix-Harborside, and, in recent years, was a member of the Unity Church of St. Croix.
She is survived by her sister, Yvonne Loinig; her brother, James Boyer; nieces: Aimee Loinig-Carr and Leslie Boyer; nephews: W. Joseph Plunkett and Craig Boyer; and grandnephews: Gregory Boyer, CJ Boyer and Malcom Boyer.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at James Memorial Funeral Home located in LaGrande Princesse, Christiansted. There will also be a visiting hour with the family before the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either the Rotary Club of St. Croix- Harborside or the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center.
