Leroy Ford Sr. Dies at 77

Leroy Ford Sr. Veteran Leroy Ford Sr., also known as "Fighting Bamins" or "Skatey," of Estate Anna’s Hope died on Feb. 11 at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center. He was 77 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Agatha Brow and William Ford; and cousin, Austin "Champ" Battise.
He is survived by his wife, Olive Christian Ford; children: Arlene, Leroy Jr., Adelene, Emanuel and Eugene Ford; sisters: Virginia Scott-Dorsett and Mary Hatchett -Walton; brothers-in-law: Hugo Penn, Phillip and Henry Christian, and Cleveland Walton; sister-in-law, Aurora Christian-Chase; grandchildren: Omari, Afiya and Jamal Lewis, Adele, Pamela, Leroy III, Michelle, Michael, Lakima and Matisha Ford, Shamoya, ShadeJah and Shalom Albert; cousin, Ulric "Ricky" Battise; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Christiansted. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery ,Veterans Section.
