Police are investigating a Thursday attack in which a man changing his car tire was cut on his neck, the V.I. Police Department said.
According to a news release, police on Thursday were called to investigate a third-degree assault that occurred about 9:20 p.m. in Sugar Estate.
A man told police he was changing a tire when he felt something sharp cutting his neck. As he looked up, he saw a man holding a box-cutter to his throat, who told him, “It’s been a long time I’ve wanted to cut your throat.”
The victim began to struggle with the suspect. Several bystanders intervened and the suspect ran off in an unknown direction. Police interviewed the victim and are following up on the case.
Monday’s police report did not indicate whether the victim knew or had ever seen the assailant, or the extent or seriousness of the victim’s injuries.
