Kylo Wins 2013 Party Monarch Title

Music blared and the crowd rocked Friday night as entertainers dominated the stage during the Party Monarch Competition held in the Carnival Village.

The hyped crowd grooved, danced and chanted while the singers performed; some of the audience sang along with the entertainers.

The performers for this year’s competition were Kalypso Man Parrilla, Kylo, Nina Nyce, Blackest, Dijon, Jubal and Jamal Miranda.

Rashidi Clenance and Sheniqua Robinson, master of ceremonies, kept the crowd entertained in between segments of the show.

Nina Nyce’s “Stampede” had the ladies bumping along, and Kalypso Man Parrilla’s “How Can You” had almost all of the audience singing along with him.

In the end, Kylo who sang his “We Tramping” won first place and Blackest took second place honors.

The event was sponsored by Cruzan Rum.

Upcoming events in the village will include: Cultural Night on Sunday, Youth Night on Tuesday, Latin Night on Thursday and Reggae Night takes over the village on Friday.
