Two Dead, one Wounded at Coki Point

A man and woman were killed and another man wounded in a shooting incident early Monday morning at Coki Point, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police have identified the slain woman as Akilah Godet, age 35. The man killed was Jumore Lewis, 20. A 23-year old male was also shot in his leg. He was taken to the Schneider Regional Hospital by police for treatment.

Detectives said the incident occurred just after 2 a.m. Monday at the Coki Point Beach Bar.

In their preliminary investigation report, detectives said there was a large gathering at the venue when several patrons became involved in a melee and one or more individuals began shooting. Akilah Godet, the female victim, was struck by at least one bullet to her upper body. The male victim, Jumore Lewis, was shot several times in his upper body.

Emergency room physicians later pronounced both victims dead.

The second male victim, who was shot in his leg, is a British Virgin Islands native, police said. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Police are searching for the suspects, and asked the public’s help in identifying anyone who was involved. Anyone with information can call the Major Crimes Unit directly at 1-340-642-8449, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. All information will be kept confidential, the police said.
