Winona Sackey Joshua Dies at 68

Winona Sackey Joshua of Estate Rattan died on Sept. 4. She was 68 years old.
She is predeceased by her father, O’Neal Sackey; mother, Helen K.E. Sackey; and brother, Clement Sackey.
She is survived by her spouse, Beaugeste Joshua; stepdaughters: Shirlin Joshua-Durand, Coroli Joshua and Kathleen Nyles; son, Keith R. Gittens Jr.; stepsons: Ben Joshua Jr., Joel Joshua and Andy Joshua; grandchildren: Joshelle, Joelle, Joel Jr., Terina, Krystal, Janice, Chanel, Christopher, Elon and Ava; great grandchildren: Arianna, Eric and Erica; sister, Deanna Sackey; brothers: Rael L. Sackey and Forrest Sackey; and nieces: Chalia Boyce, Talitha Sackey, Allyson Sackey, Chotsani Sackey, Rashani Sackey, Merle J. Bronson and Diana, Debbie Joshua.
She is also survived by nephews: D’Lani Ford, Gerard Boyce Jr., Ehdie Sackey, Khefren Sackey, Michael, Leo, Roy, Trevor and Admend Joshua; great-nieces: Deja Ford and Alyssa Ford; great- nephews: G’Kosi Boyce and G’Saih Boyce; aunt, Cleone Jacobs; uncle, Charles A. Emanuel; sons-in-law: Kenley Durand and Inem Portier; brother-in-law, Genevarie Joshua; and sisters-in-law: Barbara Sackey and Joycelyn Joshua.
Other survivors include special friends: Janet Brow, Gloria Canegata, Maria Encarnacion, Terrance Joseph, John and Sarah Ferrol, Sam and Sharon Solomon, Gwen Jacobs and family, the Department of Education family, AKA Sorority family, St. Croix Heritage Dancers, Racetrack Under the Tent Gang, Gene and Audrey Porther, Kelvin Halls, Yolanda Halls, Marcia Headley, Pat and Carlton Forde, Edgar and Janet Lake, Dauglas and Gloria Williams, Gloria Hendricks, Beryl CentKo and Kayley Elementary School family, Anita Gordon Plaskett, Lenore Parker, Lorma Molloy, Winona A Hendricks and Renne Hansen; cousins and other relatives: the Sackey, Joshua, Emanuel, Allick, Brow, Milligan, Lubert and Byron families; as well as other friends and family too numerous to mention.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Tributes will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at the Federiksted Cemetery.
