DOH Immunization Clinic Resumes Services, Vaccination Outreach Continues

The Immunization Clinic at the Roy L. Schneider Medical Center has resumed normal hours following a vehicular accident that had damaged the clinic’s location and led to the suspension of services, earlier this week, according to a press release issued Thursday by the V.I. Department of Health.
Immunization staff resumed services as early as Tuesday through late Wednesday evening as part of the special extended clinic hours. The extended hours are to ensure accessible and convenient hours for parents and guardians to get their children vaccinated prior to the start of the school year in order to avoid a last-minute rush.
A special outreach for college students will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at the University of the Virgin Islands to provide students an easy opportunity to get vaccinated.
“This is yet another occasion where the department is making vaccination services accessible and convenient,” Health Commissioner Darice Plaskett said. “We encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to get vaccinated.”
Beginning Monday, Aug. 19, and Wednesday, Aug. 21, vaccinations will be administered by appointment only at the St. Thomas Immunization Clinic. Residents are asked to call 774-7477, ext. 2150 to schedule an appointment. The clinic will be closed on Tuesday and Thursday, in order for staff to conduct special vaccination outreaches for children, kindergarten through 12th grade, on St. John at the Morris F. de Castro Clinic.
The schedule for the extended clinic hours is as follows:
St. Croix (University of the Virgin Islands) – for college students only, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16
St. Thomas (Community Health – Immunization Clinic at SRMC) – for K through 12th grade only, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday – Aug. 16
St. John (Morris F. de Castro Clinic) – for K through 12th grade only, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20/from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22
