Channel 8 Hires Cheryl Francis as General Manager

Alpha Broadcasting Corporation, parent company to WSVI Channel 8, has hired Cheryl Francis to run the station as vice president and general manager, according to the company.

Francis, who is the wife of Lt. Gov. Greg Francis, has over 30 years of experience in media, telecommunications, customer service, and business operations, according to a statement from the company.

Her background in getting diverse media operations to function together and dedication to customer service makes her a valuable asset, not only to Channel 8 but the community we serve," said Alpha Broadcasting President David Lampel, in the announcement.

The future for television is in the multi-media digital platforms our viewers want and the services we offer clients like our wsvitv.com site. This is why we are so excited by her experience and leadership in the business community,” Lampel said.

Francis also launched and operates a successful foundation, “Stop the Bleeding,” that works with media and the entertainment industry to aggressively challenge the status quo of out of control violence on young people. “In bringing business, government and community together in tackling real tough community problems, she has been inspiring to anyone who knows her. She walks the walk,” Lampel said.

WSVI Channel is an ABC network affiliate and has been on the air in the territory for 40 years, according to the company.
