Gunshots Injure Man in Music Studio

A St. Croix man was injured by gunshots Thursday while in a music studio in Estate Ruby, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The victim was shot several times and was taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center by private vehicle, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the hospital to interview the victim about 9:40 p.m. The 45-year-old victim told police he was inside his music studio near his home when he heard voices outside. When he opened the door to see who was speaking he saw at least three men in the darkness. He then heard several gunshots and closed the door. The shots continued and penetrated into the structure.

The victim attempted to seek cover but was injured by the gunshots. He managed to call someone to take him to the hospital for treatment. Medical staff said the victim was struck in his left calf, left thigh, left forearm and on the left side of his abdomen.

The injured man was not identified in accord with a department policy not to name assault victims.

This case is being investigated by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
