Police Search for Two Armed Suspects

Police on St. Thomas are searching for a pair of armed men who robbed two victims, injuring one and taking the cash of another just before midnight Monday on Nazareth Road.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the victims told officers they were walking to Red Hook, where their boat was docked, when two men armed with black handguns approached them and told them to give up their wallets. One victim refused and one of the suspects struck him on his head with his gun. The other victim gave his wallet, containing $22, to the suspects.

The suspects then fled the area on foot. A passing motorist took the two men to the Schneider Regional Medical Center. One victim was treated for a laceration to his head and an injury to his arm that happened when he fell.

The victims said the suspects were between the ages of 25 and 35. One was about 5-feet, 3-inches tall and the other between 5-foot 6 and 5-foot 9. They both had beards and close-cropped hair; they were not wearing masks during the robbery, the victims said.

The case is being followed up by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information on the robbery or about the suspects can call detectives at 1-340-715-5522, the Commissioner’s office at 1-340-715-5506, 911, or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
