Prior to a burial at sea, Lee Elvins, division commander USCG Auxiliary 070-16, addressed family and friends honoring Marcy’s service to his country and community.
Robert Marcy joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in March of 2007 in District Seven, Flotilla 16-01 Christiansted, and served in two division and three flotilla officer positions. As a leisure time boater, and past commander with the U.S. Power Squadron, he became an expert navigator and developed a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience by teaching boating safety courses.
Marcy served in the U.S. Army assigned to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, conducting engineering tests on military vehicles. Personal awards include the Auxiliary Membership Service Award, Auxiliary Public Education Service Award (two awards), Coast Guard Unit Commendation and the Auxiliary Sustained Service Award.

Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) was not Marcy’s only auxiliary contributions. Forming a Dixieland band and a 20-piece orchestra, he conducted semi-classical concerts for veterans’ hospitals and senior citizen organizations. His performances at the annual Flotilla 16-01 Pancake Breakfast were the highlight of the event.
Recreational Boating Safety and education is the primary objective of the USCG Auxiliary. Marcy supported that effort and was a leader who contributed education to saving lives. Learn more about boating safety education by visiting http://a0701601.wow.uscgaux.infor .
