Yacht Haven Grande Celebrates Easter

Spirits were high Saturday afternoon as nearly 200 children darted around for 700 Easter eggs hidden around Yacht Haven Grande.

During the annual Easter event, children decorated bags, searched for eggs with prizes inside, went on a scavenger hunt to nine retail stores, and met the Easter Bunny himself.

Locals and tourists were invited to the free event hosted by the Welcoming Center.

Participating stores gave children prizes and candy, and a few even offered discounts to parents.

“We’re so excited to see so many families out today. The kids are really happy,” said Joy Matheny, guest services coordinator for the Welcoming Center.

The Welcome Center contacted hotels and other local business as well as posted flyers to advertise the event. They hoped to offer a traditional Easter celebration as well as get the word out about the new Welcome Center, said Matheny.

The Welcome Center at Yacht Haven Grande opened about three months ago in order to provide information and assist customers with other travelling needs.

Other activities at the event included face painting, balloon animals, and a pirate show.
