The 29th Legislature will convene in Committee of the Whole Zoning Hearing to rreceive testimony on the following zoning amendments:
Joseph E. Hodge – (Cardinal P. Connor authorized agent) – Request for Amendment to Official Zoning Map No. STZ-9 from A-1 (Agricultural District) to R-2 (residential – low density – one and two family), for Parcel No. 19-1-1 Estate Smith Bay, Nos. 1,2 and 3 East End Quarter, St. Thomas
Purpose: to allow the subdivision of the property into approximately 60 affordable dwelling units
Klaus Neuburger and Jackie Bryan Neuburger – Request for Amendment to Official Zoning Map No. STZ-4 from R-1 (residential – low density) to R-3 (residential – medium density) for Remainder Parcel No. 2A Estate Crown and Hawk, No. 3 Southside Quarter, St. Thomas
Purpose: to expand the existing botanical garden into a first-class tourist attraction; a botanical garden and horticultural facility with gift shops, retail sale of food and beverages, nature trail and plant maze
Talal and Jawaher Salem (Naser Salem, authorized agent) – Request for Amendment to Official Zoning map No. STZ-9 from R-2 (residential – low density – one and two family) to B-2 (business –secondary neighborhood) for Parcel No. 4 CB Estate Smith Bay, St. Thomas
Purpose: to allow the development of a grocery store

Bill No. 29-0278 – An Act amending Title 18, V.I.C., to allow for paper ballot inclusion under the election laws of the United States Virgin Islands
Bill No. 29-0299 – An Act providing for a referendum on the 2012 V.I. general election ballot to address alternatives for the election of senators
Bill No. 29-0305 – An Act to change the date of primary election to be in compliance with the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act
Bill No. 29-0310 – An Act repealing and reenacting Title 2, chapter 6, section 102 of the V.I.C. to provide for the election for members of the V.I. Legislature by a combination of at-large and district seats.

Bill No. 29-0201 – An Act appropriating funds for the operating expenses of the Legislature of the Virgin Islands for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.
Bill No. 29-0293 – An Act amending Title 24, chapter 18, section 472, of the V.I.C. by requiring employers with more than 1,000 employees to give 180 days notice prior to closing a facility or planning a mass layoff, relocation or other action that results in any employment loss
Bill No. 29-0304 – An Act amending Title 22, V.I.C., chapter 5, relating to the imposition of tax
Bill No. 29-0261 – An Act to amend Act No. 7261 (Bill No. 29-0123) by exempting instructors of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) from the mandatory eight percent salary reduction

Bill No. 29-0124 — An Act requiring the Government of the Virgin Islands to offer real estate appraisal classes to V.I. residents in preparation for the 2011 and 2012 property tax valuations; prohibiting the Government of the V.I. from hiring nonresidents to perform the property tax valuations and for other purposes.
