The Police Department this week announced parking restrictions for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Christiansted. Restrictions will be in place from 8 a.m. until the parade is over.
Traffic will be rerouted in several areas. Vehicles traveling eastward into Christiansted town will be rerouted at Market Street towards Hill Street, Church Street, New Street and eastward onto Hospital Street. Vehicular traffic traveling westward will be rerouted on Hospital Street towards Queen Street, Market Street and then westward onto King Street.
There will be no parking on several Christiansted streets.
– No parking on King Street eastward from the intersection of Prince and King Streets and along Company Street to the intersection of Prince and Company Streets;
– No parking on Prince Street between the intersection of Company and King Streets;
– No parking on Church Street between King and Company Streets;
– No parking on Hospital Street between King and Company Streets;
– No parking on Queen Cross Street between King and Company Streets on the south side of Government House. This area will be utilized to stage the Police Department’s Command Post.
Any vehicle found parked in the restricted areas will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.

During the parade taxis will not be allowed to pick up and drop off cruise ship passengers at the usual location on Queen Cross Street between Strand Street and the Waterfront. Taxies are instead asked to use the government parking lot, accessible through Water Gut, as an alternate pick-up and drop-off location. Once the parade is completed, regular pick-up and drop-off service will resume.
