VIWMA Advises Contant Residents of Bin Site Relocation

The VI Waste Management Authority advises St. Thomas residents in the Contant area that the public bin site currently located in at No. 70 Contant will be relocated effective Friday, March 16. The new bin site location will be in the vicinity of the old Tropical Motors building and the Sherwin Williams Paint Store.
Residents are reminded that all public bin sites are solely for the disposal of household waste. Bulk waste, like furniture, and white goods, such as appliances, are to be taken directly to the Bovoni Landfill. The disposal of commercial waste is also prohibited at any public bin site. Businesses are to have their waste taken directly to the Bovoni Landfill.
Anyone found illegally disposing of unacceptable waste at any of the public bin sites can be ticketed. Littering is a criminal offense. The minimum charge for illegal dumping or littering is one thousand dollars ($1,000) and/or up to 180 days in jail.
