VIDOL Names Career.VI the Official Job Resource in the Territory

Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor Albert Bryan Jr. has announced the department’s active collaboration with the territory’s largest job portal, Career.VI, today by signing a memorandum of understanding with BIZVI LLC. Career.VI was named as the official online job portal for the Virgin Islands, helping to provide better job search and application services to the job seekers in the territory and to facilitate the job posting process by the employers, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Labor.
Syed Gilani, president and CEO of TABS Group International (TGI), the parent company of BIZVI LLC and Career.VI, said, “This is a historic moment for the Virgin Islands where public-private partnership will bring labor market efficiency in the territory. Our commitment to innovating the lives of the Virgin Islanders lead us to introduce Virgin Islands’ first job portal in 2008 and today while we face challenging economic times, in partnership with the Virgin Islands’ Department of Labor, we continue to expand on our commitment for these beautiful islands.” Commissioner Bryan said, “The reality of today’s economic situation demands that we look to the internet for services as well as for economic opportunity. BIZVI has been on the forefront of this charge in the territory and over the years we have built great partnerships in training, cutting edge projects like Youthnet and now Career.VI. This look to the net is but a beginning step to transition our economy and society to a digital renaissance, using our tremendous bandwidth capability and fiber ring to access the world.”
Career.VI is the Virgin Islands’ leading job portal with more than 20,000 registered job seekers looking for job openings posted by hundreds of the Virgin Islands’ employers and continues to grow everyday. Career.VI offers free services for both employers and job seekers. Employers are able to notify DOL of their available position, post on the territory’s leading career platform and receive applications from job seekers. Featured tools for employers are also available to increase visibility, manage job applicants, and help in talent hunt through Top Job feature. Job seekers on the other hand are also offered a multitude of features to better their job search including resume builder, job agent, competitor and much more.
Career.VI also has the No. 1 online Job Magazine, CareerPost. CareerPost gives users the opportunity to seek labor market advice and read articles pertaining to career development, even allowing them to participate in discussions, state opinions, and submit their own articles for others to view. With helpful tips visible throughout the site to easily identify with accessible options, Career.VI brings together a succession of job resource tools in an effort to improve the islands’ job market.
