V.I. Pace Runners Announce Children’s Race Results

The Children Race (800m for boys and girls 13 and under 10) got its start 25 years ago and is the prelude to the Children’s Parade. In the race held on Friday a new champion was crowned. The course for the race starts at the corner of King St. and Fisher St. and finishes at the Fort Frederik Museum in historic Frederiksted, St. Croix. It is consistent with the last half of both the Children’s Parade and the Three Kings Parade.
Nyhne Daniel of the Hounds and Foxes Track Club and St. Patrick School finished first overall with time of 2 minutes 7 seconds (2:07); Adriel Sanes also of HFTC and Good Hope School was second in 2:14; Rodney Griffin of the St. Croix Track Club was third in 2:21.
Nia Jack HFTC/St. Mary’s School finished fourth overall in the race and was the first place female finisher in 2:24; Stephanie Matthew of the SCTC was the second place female in 2:25 and Mikaela Smith of the SCTC was third in 2:30.
In the boys under 10, Rafael Jackson of Alexander Henderson School was first in 2:47; Jose Gonzalves of Good Hope School was second in 2:48; Massi Hatcher of Eulalie Rivera School was third in 3:04.
Michelle Smith SCTC took first place in the girls under 10 category with a time of 3:17; Karla Barton Good Hope School was second in 3:24; Liah Larsen of Good Hope School was third in 3:42

Dominic Pugliese Country Day School 3:15; 10). Gabriel Sanes GHS 3:29; 11). Dequan Defreitas SCTC 6:05
