St. John Administrator Leona Smith made a special Saturday trip to the Battery to open the facility up for the Government Hospital and Health Facilities Corporation Board of Director’s quarterly meeting. but no one showed up.
“Nobody called me,” she said at around 10 a.m. as she closed up the Battery.
The meeting was canceled due to inclement weather and canceled at around 8:30 a.m. Smith finally called board chairman Lynn Millin Maduro at around 9:45 a.m., she said, only to learn that the board members from St. Croix couldn’t get a flight to St. Thomas.
Nobody let the Source reporter know either, despite the fact that board’s executive assistant, Karen P. Rennie, received a mid-week request for an agenda and list of board members.
Smith said she had plenty of other things to do with her Saturday instead of waiting around for a meeting that didn’t happen.
“I’m disappointed someone didn’t call me,” she said.
