Scotiabank Counts Down to World Savings Day With 31 Ways to Save

Scotiabank is counting down to World Savings Day on Oct. 31 by giving customers a free booklet with 31 simple ways to save money for every day this month. Anyone interested in learning about these money-saving tips is encouraged to visit their local Scotiabank branch today to pick up the free booklet and meet with a representative to discuss a savings plan that works for them.
World Savings Day is recognized globally and has been observed annually on Oct. 31 since 1924. It was created to devote one day every year to promote the benefits of saving money. Scotiabank is recognizing World Savings Day this year by helping show customers how little changes can make a big difference and lead to more savings over time.
The free booklet contains 31 simple money-saving ideas, including:
  • Shop with a plan: Shopping for food on a list helps you spend less and stops you from making unnecessary purchases.
  • Entertaining at home: Inviting friends and family to your home is easier on your wallet and less expensive than eating out.
  • Put “found money” away: If you receive an inheritance, a raise, bonus, or any unexpected lump sum, put that money into a savings account right away. You’ll be less tempted to spend the money and instead, you can watch your savings grow.
  • Use credit smartly: Tackle debt by paying credit card and other bills on time – this will help save you interest.
