A Memorable Evening

Dear Source:
On Sunday October 9 I had the pleasure of attending the V.I. – Puerto Rico Folkloric Dance Festival at the CAHS auditorium, and it was truly a highly enlightening and entertaining performance. I must commend the organizers under the chairmanship of Mrs. Carmen Dennis for staging such a well coordinated production. The over 400 audience members who attended were extremely appreciative and generous with their applause and encouragement to the dancers.
I was particularly fascinated by the performance of two versions of a dance called "Lancer." The European version was performed by the Puerto Rican dance group, and this was followed by the African version performed by the St. Thomas Heritage dancers. The elaborate costumes and intricacies of the dance held us spellbound throughout, and it was interesting to note the similarities between the two versions.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was fun-filled, with cordial exchanges between performers and audience, culminating in some audience members being escorted to the platform by the Puerto Rican dancers to participate in their final dance.
I would again like to congratulate the organizers and all the participants for treating us to such a memorable evening.
Thank you for allowing me to share this experience with your readers.
