Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Croix arrested 21-year-old Ibrahim Francis and 19-year-old Joshua Williams, in connection with a June 10 incident in which a 17-year-old male was struck several times in his face and body with a metal pipe.
The suspects are charged with third-degree assault and carrying or using a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, according to the V.I. Police Department.
According to the affidavit filed by the detectives, the victim was in a parking lot in his car when the two suspects approached him while he was exiting his car. The victim was hit in his face with a metal object and the suspects continued to beat him in his face and legs before fleeing the area on foot. The suspect drove himself to the hospital and was treated for injuries to his mouth and bruises on his body, police said.
Detectives conducted an investigation and obtained arrest warrants for the suspects. Ibrahim Francis was arrested at his residence in Estate Castle Coakley at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Joshua Williams was arrested at police headquarters at about 10 a.m. Monday.
Both suspects were held on $25,000 bail each and remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
