Lt. Governor Reminds Property Owners of Early Payment Discounts for 2008 Taxes

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis is appreciative of the property owners who have come into the Office of the Lt. Governor to take advantage of the early payment discounts available for the 2008 property tax bill. He has regularly visited the payment locations at the Tax Collector Offices since the bills were issued last month to interact with customers and staff.
“I’d like to thank all of the property owners who have paid their 2008 taxes thus far for their patience if they encountered long lines at any of our payment locations,” stated the Lt. Governor. “Our staff at the Office of the Lt. Governor strives to provide the highest level of customer service to the community, and I appreciate the public’s understanding during this very busy time.”
Property owners who pay their 2008 property taxes by Friday, Aug. 5, receive a 5 percent discount for early payment. A discount of 2.5 percent will apply to payments made from Aug. 6 through the bill due date of Aug. 20. “I am encouraging all property owners to take advantage of this opportunity to save by paying their 2008 property taxes early,” he said.
Property taxes can be paid at the Tax Collector’s Offices at the following locations:
St. John: Islandia Building
St. Thomas: Builders Emporium
St. Croix: 1105 King Street (Government House, Christiansted; 1131 King Street, Suite No. 101 (Christiansted); 4008 Est. Diamond (Dept. of Finance, Sunny Isles) or Lagoon Street Commercial Building No. 1 (Frederiksted)
