Government access cable channels in both districts will launch a new 30-minute talk show this month called "Eye on the Islands," dedicated to the people and issues of the Virgin Islands.
The host, Justice Department Spokeswoman Sara Lezama, will be joined by special guests from the public and private sectors to discuss topics that Virgin Islanders want to know more about and the events they won’t want miss. The Government Access Channels are cable channel 6 on St. Croix and cable channel 10 in the St. Thomas-St. John district.
“The discussion program will take a closer look at health, public safety, education, social issues, community causes and a variety of other interesting topics," said Gov. John deJongh Jr. in a statement. "Through insightful, humorous and colorful conversation, Sara and her guests will turn a focused eye toward discussing the issues that concern our community while providing viewers with information they can use."
The debut features local and federal law enforcement officers, V.I. Police Officer Roy Chesterfield, Special Agent James Doby of the U.S,. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Acting U.S. Marshal Reggie Bradshaw, who will encourage locals to participate in Law Enforcement Career Day on April 7 and 8 at the University of the Virgin Islands. Lezama leads the men in discussing the eligibility requirements for each agency and what interested residents can do to land an exciting career in local or federal law enforcement.
The program, produced by Lambert Media Team, will air Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 and 10 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday at noon and 6 p.m. For more information, visit the "Eye on the Islands" website.
