Big Breakfast Challenge Marks National School Breakfast Week in District

The National School Breakfast Week is being observed Monday, March 7 through Friday, March 11, in the St. Thomas-St. John District. “And in celebration of the observance, schools in the St. Thomas-St. John district will compete in the Big Breakfast Challenge,” said Izaak-Lynch, director of the school breakfast program said. “Each participating school will create its own breakfast menu for students, parents and staff. This unique culinary experience will showcase the staff’s skills and creativity.” Selected judges will rate the schools based on a criteria provided by the School Lunch Division.
The following schools will be participating in the Big Breakfast Challenge from 7-7:50 a.m. on the following dates:
Tuesday, March 8: Gladys Abraham Elementary
Wednesday, March 9:Addelita Cancryn Junior High, Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School and Julius Sprauve School (St. John)
Thursday, March 10: Calvary Christian Academy, Charlotte Amalie High School, E. Benjamin Oliver Elementary, Joseph Gomez Elementary and Joseph Sibilly Elementary
Friday, March 11: Evelyn Marcelli Elementary and Lockhart Elementary
Parents are encouraged to join their children for breakfast on the scheduled dates. A fee of $3 will be charged for each adult. For more information, contact Izaak-Lynch at 774-8070.
