The Department of Public Works has announced the initiation of a one-lane alternating traffic plan on Alton Adams Sr. Drive (Polyberg, Route 310) beginning west of the intersection of Route 314, William G. Lewis Lane (Lover’s Lane). This traffic plan will begin on Jan. 17, according to a press release from DPW Commissioner Darryl A. Smalls.
One lane is being closed on Polyberg Hill (Route 310) in order for the contractor to begin the total reconditioning of the concrete roadway, which includes the demolition of the existing roadway, stabilization of the sub base and the placement of new concrete pavement. The alternating traffic lane is expected to be in place for approximately six weeks.
The Polyberg area is the second segment of the Island Wide Pavement Rehabilitation Project that began on Dec. 14, 2009. The contractor is Virgin Islands Paving Inc.
The motoring public is advised that traffic traversing Route 310 east on Polyberg Hill and westbound traffic on Route 310 Alton Adams Sr. Drive (Polyberg Area) will be managed by temporary traffic signals at each end of the work zone.
Motorists are asked to proceed through the work zone with caution and to obey the traffic signals.
