If you’re worried about how you’ll pay for your children’s college tuition, the featured speaker at the Friends of Elaine I. Sprauve Library’s annual meeting on Jan. 12 has useful information in his Financial Planning for Parents address.
“It’s always good to be prepared. This information needs to get out to people,” Librarian and Friends of the Library member Carol McGuinness said.
The scheduled speaker, Brad Baldridge of Baldridge College Solutions, is a certified financial planner specializing in providing customized college planning using the latest tax, cash flow and academic strategies to save families money. He’s also co-author of “Strictly Business: Planning Strategies for Privately Owned Businesses,” a book written to educate business owners on financial topics. His articles have appeared in newsletters for chambers of commerce and other business owner groups.
Baldridge will be discussing a host of topics, including the cost of attending college, how to pay for it, five myths about college funding, what you need to know about financial planning, sources of financial planning strategies for saving, and more.
According to Baldridge’s College Solutions website, the average cost of a four-year college education at a state school is $50,000. If your child has her heart set on a private college, the cost will more than double.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 at Sprauve Library. For more information, call the library at 776-6359.
