CFVI Updates Directory of Community Organizations

The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) launched an initiative to strengthen the non-profit sector in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2004 by creating a Directory of Community Organizations Serving the Virgin Islands. This project has been very successful in the past, and CFVI is currently preparing to publish an updated 2011 – 2012 edition of the directory, according to a press release from Dee Baecher-Brown, CFVI president.
A non-profit organization that wants to be included in the directory must fill out the form that can be found on CFVI’s Web site at cfvi.net/subpages/resources.html or call 774-6031 to receive a faxed copy. The deadline for submission is no later than Nov. 24. The head of a non-profit organization that is already listed in the directory needs to provide any updated information relative to his or her group. Religious organizations are invited to list any service related organizations / youth programs they sponsor.
Connecting donors with community needs is one of the primary purposes of this directory. Many philanthropists come to CFVI requesting guidance on how to direct their financial contributions. This directory will continue to serve as a resource to introduce financial contributors to all of the non-profit organizations that choose to be listed. The directory is also widely utilized by community members seeking services and volunteer opportunities.
For more information about the directory, call CFVI at 774-6031.
