Police on St. Croix are investigating the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man Thursday in the Gallows Bay area near Christiansted.
It was the 55th homicide in the territory since the first of the year, the 27th on St. Croix.
According to police, officers were called to a disturbance at about 10 p.m. Thursday on Lagoon Street in Gallows Bay. Witnesses told them that two men were engaged in an argument that resulted in the shooting death of one of the men.
The victim was later identified as 34-year-old Gregory Moolenaar, a resident of Gallows Bay.
Detectives from the Major Crime and Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and the case remains active. Investigators will also consult with the attorney general regarding this case.
