Education Issues Revision to First Marking Period Calendar

Education Acting Commissioner Jeanette Smith-Barry has announced the revision of the first marking period of the 2010-2011 School Calendar. Smith said, “Due to school closings caused by Hurricane Earl and Tropical Storm Otto, the first marking period of the 2010-2011 school year calendar has to be amended. Hence, the first marking period will now end on Friday, Nov. 12, and the second marking period will begin on Monday, Nov. 15.
Parents are asked to make note of the revision and are encouraged to use the extra time to meet with teachers and discuss their child’s progress.
