Dr. Kim Moore with Tregenza Roach and his mother, Iona.Tregenza Roach was joined by his mother, Iona Roach, and many others in raising a champagne and apple cider toast to Kim, who blew away her competition when she performed her Tina Turner skit at the national competition in Atlantic City.
Kim shared some of the highlights of the evening that had her walk away with the top honor. After some scrumptious Vienna cake the celebration moved from Back Street to JoJo’s barbeque grille, set up downtown opposite the waterfront, where a savory fish soup, delicious grilled salmon, ole wife and shrimp served with baked potato, corn on the cob and a salad were devoured by the crowd gathered to lime to late hours.

Our very own VI Senior America, dentist Dr. Kimberly Moore, was feted recently by fervent supporters who gathered to congratulate her on winning the national title of Ms Senior America 2010.

Among those sharing in the celebration were, Everson Benjamin, Millie George, Lamarr Parsons, Sharon Smith, Joan Foy, Keith Benjamin, Enrique Rodriguez, Sheena Conway, Shelton Richardson, Eunipha Douglas, Nyby Douglas, Robert Chen, Sylvia Thomas, Callie Gibson and his wife Carmina, Sandyl Elskoe, Inez Bartlett with her granddaughter J’eysinia, Heather Hogarth-Smith, Pat Esdaille, Laurel Charles, Lana Trotman, Peter Robles and his son, Daniel, Raul Carrillo, Winston and Harriet Benjamin, Celeste Ruan, Andre Etienne and Denise Benjamin.

ArtVI hosted a special Halloween show at The Saint nightclub, where local artists displayed work that revolved around the theme Mad Men. The multimedia exhibit was unusual to say the least. Tucked away in a corner of the club there was an installation featuring a full-size skeleton surrounded by replicas of Caribbean flora and fruit. Various artists took turns at the specially set-up easel to create drawings of their rendition of the installation.

Art work was displayed on the walls throughout the club, and photos by Steve Rockstein were flashed high on one wall. Among the artists represented and/or attending the event were, St. Croix’s Luca Gaspari, Drew Alston, Augustine Holder, Lynn Berry, Sue Edwards, Ensor Colon, David Hill, Lamont Blake, Tweed-El, Eric Browne and Tony Romano. Among those who attended were ArtVi founder Priscilla Hintz, who was channeling Jackie O in the cutest outfit replete with a matching hat with a mini-veil. Also on hand were Alexandra Holder, Harry and Carrie Freyn, Kurt Komives with his wife, and Phillip Harrigan.

Nasseer Idrisi, pictured with his sitar. This past weekend was made extra special because of an invite to a really delightful event at the home of Lorna Young-Wright, who arranged for her UVI colleague, Naseer Idrisi, to share his talents on the sitar with specially invited guests. Idrisi, an oceanographer improvised around themes based on the poetry of 13th century poet, Rumi.
Among those enjoying the event were, piano maestro
Louis Taylor and his wife Michelle; master musician and fellow UVI colleague, Martin Lamkin with his wife Vicky; Rosalie Dance; Jean Webster; Ron and Caryl Johnson; Henry Wheatley; Mary Alexander; Norman and Kathy Dudemaine; Linda Christian and Anna Mayes.
