DOE Extends Free Praxis Tutorials for Teachers

The University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center in collaboration with the V.I. Department of Education – Division of Human Resources has announced the extension of its free Praxis I and II tutorial program for public school teachers.
The tutorials will resume Saturday, Oct. 16, and will run until Nov. 13. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at the UVICELL Center on St. Thomas.
Funded by DOE, it prepares public school teachers for the Praxis I and II exams so they can be designated as highly qualified in order to meet the mandates of the “No Child Left Behind Act.” To register for the free tutorials, teachers must be employed by the Department of Education and provide verification of employment upon registering.
For more information or to register, call the UVICELL Center at 693-1100 or visit http://cell.uvi.edu.
