Power Restored Across St. Thomas

After outages plagued St. Thomas starting Monday morning and running through the afternoon, the V.I. Water and Power Authority announced at 5 p.m. power had been restored to all St. Thomas feeders.
The statement from WAPA said technicians had completed repairs to gas turbine Unit No. 18 in St. Thomas’ Randolph E. Harley Power Plant and as of 4 p.m. returned service to all of the affected feeders that experienced rotation of power Monday.
Throughout the day, power was rotated to various sections of Feeder Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 and the Ridge Road feeder, while repairs were made to the generator, which tripped offline at about 9 a.m. due to a problem with a fuel pump.
A replacement pump was immediately secured and repairs completed shortly before 4 p.m., according to WAPA spokeswoman Cassandra Dunn.
Customers who may still be experiencing problems in their area should call 774-1424 or 774-3552 extension 2211 to report any concerns.
