Dear Source:
I was asked on behalf of the residents of Water Island to express sincere appreciation to the WAPA linemen who spent all day Sunday bringing electrical service to Water Island which has been out since 5:00 Monday morning of last week. It came back on at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
Like many Virgin Islanders, we were fortunate to have minimal damage to our community, suffering most of the damage to our power lines and to our town center at Honeymoon Beach. Residents took 19 truckloads of debris off Honeymoon Beach beginning the morning after the storm, prior to Friday’s inspection by VITEMA representatives, as well as cleared the roads of downed trees and branches.
Today, WAPA linemen repaired downed lines, broken fuses, and essential lightning for the island. Our thanks also goes to the motor barge "Saint" which stood by from early morning to transport the WAPA trucks and equipment, as well as Honeymoon Restaurant operator Heidi Erwig who provided lunch for the workers. Mr. Hugo Hodge and the entire WAPA crew deserve our utmost gratitude for their untiring efforts.
