Two Killed, Two Injured in Sunday Shooting

Capping off a weekend of violence on St. Thomas, which started Friday with two separate shooting incidents, police are now investigating a double homicide in Estate Nadir.

The Sunday evening shootout left two men dead, and two others injured. The latter two are in stable condition at Schneider Regional Medical Center, according to a V.I. Police Department press release.

Police were sent out to investigate the incident after receiving calls of shots being fired in the Cockpit/Dana Mart area on Brookman Road came in around 7:37 p.m. Sunday, the release said. The deceased victims are in their 20s, according to St. Thomas Police Chief Rodney F. Querrard.

Sunday’s incident bumps the territory’s homicide rate up to 31 for the year. That number includes the death of a 2-month-old baby, which was announced over the weekend.

Sunday’s shooting is being investigated by the Major Crimes Bureau.
