The week of April 18-24 marks the 30th anniversary of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Local and national victims of crime as well as the professionals who assist them will show their support of the need for assistance for crime victims as a critical and core component of justice in America. This year’s theme, “Crime Victims’ Rights: Fairness. Dignity. Respect,” will be pronounced through a host of activities throughout the territory slated for the week.
Youth workshops at schools, candlelight vigils, and a victim’s race against crime and violence will be included, according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Human Services. Members of the Virgin Islands community are encouraged to join crime victims and those who serve them in observing the week. The schedule is as follows:
