Warriors, Stealers and Softball Inc. Cruise to Easy Monday Wins

The Warriors, Seaborne Stealers and Softball Inc were all relatively easy winners Monday night in the Bob Owens Slow pitch softball league. The undefeated Stealers continued to look like world beaters as they hammered the National Guard Hummers 17-2, the Warriors doubled up Anchor Dive 22-11, and Softball Inc. ended a two-game skid with their 14-2 thrashing of the Cartel.

Warriors 22, Anchor Dive 11
In game one on Monday, Anchor Dive saw their two-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt at the hands of the surging Warriors by a score of 22-11. It was the Warriors with 22 runs on 15 hits and three errors, while Anchor Dive finished with 11 runs on 11 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Angel Soto, while Edwin Sankitts got the loss for Anchor Dive. Top batters for the warriors were David Pierre 5 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs, and Juan Santana, 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. For Anchor Dive, Elizer Ramirez was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Danny Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Stealers 17, Hummers 2
The Stealers continue to make short work of their opponents this season as they crush yet another by way of the 10-run mercy rule. Monday night’s victim was defending champions Hummers, who was sent packing 17-2 in the second game of the night. Winning pitcher Sam Ramos scattered seven hits and allowed just two runs in recording the victory, while his offense exploded for 17 runs on 17 hits to give him all the run support he would need … and then some. Leonard Frett got the loss for the Hummers. Top batters for the Hummers were Ronald Schjang (2 for 2 with two home runs and four RBIs) and Freddie Pimentel (2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs). For the Hummers, Mario Christian was 2 for 2 with a home run and one RBI, and Darwin Dowling was 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI.

Softball Inc. 14, Cartel 2
In Monday’s nightcap Softball Inc. got back on the winning track, after losing two straight, with a 14-2 shellacking of the hapless Cartel squad. It was Softball Inc with 14 runs on 18 hits and two errors, while the Cartel finished with two runs on eight hits and three errors. Cody St. Pierre got the win on the hill for Softball Inc., while Dave McFarland got the loss for the Cartel. Top batters for Softball Inc. were Adam Harris (2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs), and St. Pierre (2 for 2 with two RBIs). For the Cartel, Jonathan Nugent and Eddie Dunkirk were both 1 for 2 with a home and one RBI.
