Plymouth Rock. Ba-da-boom.

Students at Good Hope School Wednesday celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with a pageant that covered the gamut—from songs and jokes to a five-minute version of "Charlotte’s Web," shared with family and friends. Another 60 or more parents and grandparents swelled the audience that smiled and laughed through the program before settling down to a chicken lunch.

Can a turkey jump higher than the Empire State Building?
Of course. Buildings can’t jump! Ba-da-boom.

––
But not all the presentations were pure entertainment. Two classes of eighth-graders presented skits with environmental messages, reminding the audience that one of the things they were thankful for was the earth.
––
What happened when the turkey got into a fight?
He got the stuffing knocked out of him. Ba-da-boom.

––
Students from both fourth-grade classes put together the "Charlotte’s Web" adaptation, trimming E.B. White’s classic novel to a neat five minutes while hitting all the high points of the story.
And the fifth-grade class of Yvonne Leklou did a presentation of "When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking." Students wrote their own stories of the good deeds that they have witnessed in the day-to-day lives of the people around them.
One student from the class said his inspiration was drawn from his older sister, Kate, who often shares treats with her younger brother: "When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you sneak some food on my plate, and I learned that sharing is really great."
––
How can you make a turkey float?
You need two scoops of ice cream, some root beer and a turkey. Ba-da-boom.

––
The school holds the event every year to bring together students, staff, faculty and family.
"It’s a really nice way for everyone to come together and share," said sixth-grade math teacher Roxanne Ramsdell. "Thanksgiving is a family time, and this was for the whole Good Hope family."
And the jokes were provided by the fifth-grade class of Victoria Baur, who finished by telling the audience, "We are thankful for humor – and you."
––
If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
Pilgrims! Ba-da-boom.

––
Happy Thanksgiving.
