Red Hook Hitchhiker Robbed, Stabbed

March 4, 2009 — A man attempting to hitch a ride out of Red Hook was held up and stabbed by the driver that stopped to pick him up.
Police are currently investigating the incident, which left the 21-year-old victim with a stab wound to the left arm and minor lacerations to his hand.
"The victim caught a ride with an unknown male in an attempt to get from Red Hook to downtown St. Thomas, but when they got to the entrance of the National Park, the driver tried to rob him," according to a V.I. Police Department news release.
When the driver demanded money, the victim offered him $20.
"But the driver said it wasn't enough, then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim," the release said. A fight ensued, but the victim was able to escape and call the police.
The case is currently being investigated by VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau.
