Environmental Party and Fundraiser Set for Saturday

Feb. 24, 2009 – "SEAing Green" is the theme for the annual St. Croix Environmental Association (SEA) fundraising masquerade ball and auction, coming Saturday to the Palms at Pelican Cove.
Auctioneer Bruce Wilson will put up for bid 27 items, including numerous trips with accommodations, a champagne flight over St. Croix from Seaborne Airlines, and green items such as a solar water heater. Maria Henle's last etching, "After the Fall," will also be auctioned. Henle was a well-known local painter who died in 2007.
The silent auction will include 142 items.
"We have something for everyone in the live and silent auction,"said Holly Herold, auction coordinator. "It is our major fundraiser of the year."
A preview party will allow people to view items up for bid from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the SEA office in Gallows Bay. Early bids will be accepted at the party. The catalog of items can be viewed online at stxenvironmental.org.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes with a green or recycled theme, or as green sea creatures. The ball is not a formal event. There will be games, a parade and prizes for the best costumes.
"The event is always a lot of fun," Herold said.
The ball begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person and are available at the SEA office at 5032 Anchor Way in Gallows Bay. Premier Wine and Spirits will do the pouring and hors d'oeuvre will be served. Fusion Band will provide quelbe music.
SEA, a non-profit organization, advocates for and educates the public about environmental responsibility and promotes conservation of environmental resources.
