Passport Division, VI SHIP/Medicare Office Participates at Ag Fair

Feb. 10, 2009 – The Passport and VI SHIP/Medicare Divisions will participate in the 2009 Agricultural Fair on the island of St. Croix. Representatives from both offices will be on hand to share information, distribute applications and answer questions about the services they provide. The Lt. Governor's Office's tent will be set up in the informational section near the livestock displays.
According to a press release from Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis, the office's participation is part of its ongoing effort to improve the customer service it offers. "By participating in the fair, we hope to reach that segment of the community who may be unable to visit the VI SHIP or Passport offices during regular business hours," Francis stated. Interested persons can pick up passport and renewal applications as well as receive current information on Medicare benefits while they attend the fair.
In a further effort to serve the community's needs, the Passport Office on St. Croix will open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 21, to receive passport applications for processing. The public is reminded that both parents are required to appear in person – or one parent with the required documentation – when applying for a passport for a child under 16.
For more information about passport and passport card application requirements, contact the Passport Division at 773-6449 on St. Croix, or 774-4024 for the St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island district, or visit www.ltg.gov.vi.
