tonight is the big CZM meeting, the rumors are that they will deny the William and punch development it's permit, it will make recommendations to William and punch that make the development just another divi. they will say we want the development but they wont let it happen, this has been the case for the last 30 years, the CZM board will refuse to allow this or any other development and they will say what they have said in the past. the people dont want this. it make me ask them what people? almost everyone i have spoken to says they want this or any development that has done so much prep work to make it environmentally safe, financially sound and a true economic resource for the island of St. croix and the entire vi as a whole.
1000 jobs weighted out at less value than 250 yards of beach, the people hollering about there rights to use that 250 yards haven't contributed a single cent to its up keep its taxes or its clean up, they spout about some historical value the emancipation drive has but they fail to note emancipation drive officially ends at the ball park and then the public easement begins, the old goat path they are trying to protect has been moved in the past with out a murmur, I challenge any of the people who object so much on historical grounds to show me a single square foot of the west end of St. croix that cant bear the same historical value, no this is more of the same fear of change that has a vice grip on St. criox for 30 years. as the developers of William and punch move there development to the Dominican republic who has offered them free land and public financing our chance at any growth goes with them, who will after this come and even investigate a development here? who will spend the millions they have spent with no return. in the end those CZM board members will blame the governor, the senate and the people of St. croix for its lack of development but it will be their failure to act that brings us to 0 growth and 0 development take responcibity do say the people say what people give names so we can see who is influencing you, dont claim to be acting in the public interest when in fact its the interest of a few.
