Residents Asked to Take Part in Island-Wide Clean Up

Jan. 10, 2009 – There will be an island-wide clean up of St. John on Jan. 13 and 14. This initiative is a joint effort of the Office of the St. John Administrator and the Department of Public Works and is part of an ongoing effort of the de Jongh/Francis administration to beautify the territory and to keep neighborhoods safe and clean, according to a press release from the Office of the Governor.
Members of the community are invited to participate in the clean up by discarding and disposing of unwanted appliances, furniture and other metal and/or bulk waste. They should deposit these items along the public roadside between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Coral Bay is targeted for clean up and bulk waste disposal and removal on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and Cruz Bay is targeted for Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Residents who are not able to participate during these may still discard their bulk waste by contacting the Office of the St. John Administrator to make alternate arrangements for pick-up and removal.
According to St. John Administrator Leona Smith, the bulk waste clean-ups will occur on St. John on an as-need basis in the future.
For more information, contact the administrator at 776-6484 or Mr. Wade at 776-6346.
