Pistarckle Offers After-School Fall Classes

Sept. 16, 2008 – Bethany Burgess-Smith will be returning to Pistarckle Theater for the temporary engagement of instructing their fall class, "The Art of Pantomime." The class focuses on training in improvisation and using the classic art of pantomime to provide students with ownership of classic stories. With close ties to Commedia dell'Arte, Pantomime uses stock characters to tell a well-known story with a new twist. Students will work to discover how seemingly unrelated fairy tales connect to their everyday lives.
Class will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Oct. 7 through Nov. 20. No classes will be held on Oct. 28 or Oct. 30. The cost is $120.
Also, renowned vocal coach Dietra Davis will be offering private vocal lessons at Pistarckle Theater. Lessons are in half-hour increments, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., on Mondays and Wednesdays. Registration is ongoing, and the cost is $30 per half hour.
For more information or to register for class, contact Pistarckle's Education Director Megan Howey at 775-7877 or education@pistarckletheater.vi
