Bernice Maria Velasquez Dies at 64

Sept. 8, 2008 – Bernice Maria Velasquez of New York died on Aug. 31, at Florida Hospital. She was 64 years old.
She survived by her spouse, Felix Velasquez; daughters: Elise Velasquez-Miler and Lisa Velasquez; sons: Steven and Tomas Velasquez; grandchildren: Misty Velasquez, Jerry Miller Jr., Sara Velasquez, Jaylien Miller, Destiny, Trinity and Melody Velasquez. She is also survived by sisters: Anna Richards Chase, Iola, Medora, Keturah, Pauline, Roberts, Lorraine and Lorna Spencer, Ramona Rodgers-Faoye, Dawn and Lynette Rodgers; brothers: Orville, Darril and Errol Rodgers, Joseph and Rosendo Roberts, Kenneth and Wayne Sr., Allick, Howard and Randall Spencer; mother-in-law, Tioda Cruz; and godchildren: Lemor Garcia and Tito Simpson. Other survivors include her aunt, Regina Daniels; uncle, Alphonso Rodgers Sr.; special cousins: Mainel, Thyra, Eleano and Christian Thompson and Lorraine Richards; special friends: Valentino and Alda Francis, Kenneth Garcia, Alexander Springer, Tyrone and Irma Simpson, Henry and Inez Armstrong, and Larry George; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., at the church. Interment will be at Frederiksted Cemetery.
