Aug. 8, 2008 — The body of an unidentified white male was found by police Friday in an abandoned house at Cabrita Point.
Police responded at 11:09 a.m. after an individual reported finding a body in the house, directly across from the former Cabrita Point guard booth, according to a VIPD statement. The body found in the house appeared to have been there for a number of days, if not a week or more, police said.
Due to the condition of the body it could not be determined if foul play was involved. The time and cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Responding to the scene were officers from Mariel C. Newton Command, Major Crime Detectives, forensic officers and Police Chief Rodney F. Querrard, Sr.
Querrard asked the public to report if they know of someone who may be missing and may have frequented the Cabrita Point/Red Hook area. Anyone with information is urged to call the Major Crime Unit at 715-5545, 715-5534, 715-5544 or 911. Information can also be called in to the chiefs office at 715-5548.
