Enforcements Outlast Injectables, 12-11

July 12, 2008 –The Corrections Department Enforcements jumped out to an early lead, then held off a late charge by the Juan Luis Hospital Injectables, 12-11, Thursday night in the Governmental Coed softball league at the Renholt Jackson Sport Complex in Estate Whim.
The Injectables had scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead at 11-9 after trailing for most of the contest, but three runs in the bottom of the inning gave the lead right back to the Enforcements at 12-11. They were then able to hold on for victory after the Injectables went quietly in the top of the seventh.
Batting first, the Injectables got out of the gates right away with three runs in the top of the first inning. They scored three runs on a two-run double by Raymond Cintron and an RBI single by Rashawn Foster.
After the Injectables failed to score in the top of the second inning, the Enforcements tied the game at three in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by Jose Berrios and two unearned runs. Four more runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Jose Robles and a two-run triple by Berrios, gave the Enforcements a four run lead at 7-3 after three innings.
RBI singles by in the fourth and fifth innings by Max Velasquez and Osidio Aquino respectively, extended the Enforcements' lead to six at 9-3.
The Injectables finally got back in the scoring column in the top of the sixth as they exploded for eight runs to take the lead at 11-9. They scored on a three-run triple by Cintron, RBI singles by Myron Johannes, Foster and Kenny Milligan, a solo home run by Freddie Pimentel and an unearned run. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Enforcements scored three run in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.
Aquino pitched the win for the Enforcements, while Saulo Saldana got the loss for the Injectables. Top hitters for the Enforcements were, Robles, 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Berrios was 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. For the Injectables, Cintron was 2 for 4 with five RBIs, Foster 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Pimentel was 2 for 2 with a home run and one RBI.
