Dear Source,
I note that the usual Feedback opportunity at the bottom of each article is absent from the Governor's Emancipation Day message. Nevertheless, I believe that it is important to note that Native Americans, Hispanics, Arabs, Asians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and persons of no religious affiliation are all lumped into the category of "everyone else" in the last lengthy paragraph. This is hardly an example of moving from a static, bi-polar view to one that embraces the diverse reality, inclusiveness and dynamism.
The language that we use reflects how we see the world. It is easy to speak of breaking out of an out-dated and limiting mindset and much harder to actually do it.
