Dear Source:
Dear Senator Richards, I read with deep sorrow and dismay that Louis Farrakhan has been invited to address the African Liberation Day celebration on May 22nd. ALD is a very significant and important event that should never be blemished by the appearance of one who spews hatred and racism on a regular basis against white people, Jews, and homosexuals. Surely there were other speakers who could have been invited who would bring honor to this observance.
So much was recently said in the media of the relationship of Senator Obama with his former Pastor, Rev. Wright, that I am even more mystified that an invitation to this event was extended to Louis Farrakhan, thus linking him to our community observance. Sincerely,
Rabbi Arthur F. Starr
St. Thomas
